Boudewijn Koole ( 1965 ) is a Dutch film director , screenwriter and film producer . Boudewijn Koole studied at Delft University of Technology , where he obtained an MSc in Industrial Design in 1991. He began making short youth documentaries for the VPRO television program Villa Achterwerk in 1996. In 2007 , he made his first feature film, the television film Trage liefde (Traveling Love) , which was nominated for a Golden Calf for Best Television Drama. His 2012 youth film Kauwboy won several major awards at international festivals. This film was also selected as the Dutch entry for Best Foreign Language Film at the 85th Academy Awards , but was not nominated. His next feature film, Beyond Sleep (2016), was nominated seven times for a Golden Calf and won three awards, including Best Director. In 2006, Koole founded the film production company Witfilm together with Iris Lammertsma , which focuses on documentaries and art house films, both nationally and internationally.
