About Michael Wendler

Michael Wendler (born 1972) is a prominent German Pop-Schlager singer, songwriter, and television personality. Since his breakthrough in 1998, he has achieved significant commercial success, earning multiple gold and platinum records and prestigious awards like the "Crown of Folk Music." He also writes music under the pseudonym Mic Skowy. Beyond music, Wendler is a frequent reality TV participant, having appeared in shows such as The Wendler Clan, Promi Big Brother, and Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!. He also ventured into business, opening discothèques in Germany. Originally from Dinslaken, Germany, Wendler moved to Cape Coral, Florida, in 2016. After a long marriage to Claudia Norberg, he divorced in 2020 and married Laura Müller, with whom he has two sons. In recent years, Wendler has become a controversial figure due to his promotion of conspiracy theories regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020 and 2021, he accused the German media of being politically controlled (using Nazi-era terminology) and compared pandemic restrictions to concentration camps. These remarks led to his dismissal as a judge on the talent show Deutschland sucht den Superstar and his removal from the broadcast.
