About Mile Kitic

Milojko "Mile" Kitić (born January 1, 1952, in Cerani, Bosnia and Herzegovina) is a prominent Serbian and Bosnian folk singer. He began his musical journey in Sarajevo, where he won his first singing competition at age 16 and released his debut single, "O, gitaro," in 1974. Early in his career, he played electric guitar for the band 'Princovi' and performed in Sarajevo's elite venues. Career with Južni Vetar Kitić's breakthrough came in 1984 when he joined the legendary ensemble Južni Vetar (South Wind). During this period, he gained immense popularity with the hit song "Čaša ljubavi" and released a string of successful albums including Kockar (1986), Mogao sam biti car (1987), and Vuk samotnjak (1993). He performed alongside other folk icons like Sinan Sakić, Dragana Mirković, Kemal Malovčić, and Šemsa Suljaković. Solo Career and Style Evolution Following the outbreak of the war in 1992, Kitić moved to Belgrade. In 1995, he left Južni Vetar to pursue a solo career, shifting towards a more modern sound. He signed with Grand Production in 1998, leading to major hits like "Plava Ciganka" (2001), "Šampanjac" (2005), "Šanker" (2008), and "Paklene godine" (2011). Personal Life Kitić is married to singer Marta Savić, and they have a daughter, Elena Kitić, who is also a successful R&B singer. He also has a daughter, Sanja, from a previous marriage. Today, he maintains an active touring schedule across the Balkans, Europe, and the USA.
