About Sinan Sakic
Sinan Sakić (1956–2018) was a legendary folk singer born in Loznica, Serbia. Inheriting musical talent from his father, he launched his career in 1978. His major breakthrough occurred in 1982 when he joined forces with the iconic band Južni Vetar (South Wind). This collaboration propelled him to stardom, making him one of the most popular singers in the region with numerous hits and over 27 albums released. Despite public misconceptions regarding his ethnicity due to his complexion, Sakić clarified in his final interview that he was not Romani but came from a Muslim family, though he expressed deep admiration for Romani culture and music. Known for his frequent travels to India and his massive popularity without relying on music festivals, Sakić passed away in Belgrade in June 2018 following a long illness.
