About The Man-Eating Tree
The Man-Eating Tree is a Finnish atmospheric gothic metal band formed in Oulu in 2009. The group was co-founded by several musicians from the Finnish metal scene, most notably former Sentenced drummer Vesa Ranta and guitarist Janne Markus (ex-Poisonblack), who has remained the primary songwriter throughout the band's history. The band released three albums in their initial run—"Vine" (2010), "Harvest" (2011), and "In the Absence of Light" (2015)—gaining recognition for their melancholic and atmospheric sound. After undergoing several lineup changes and a period of hiatus, the band made a significant comeback in late 2024. Now fronted by vocalist Manne Ikonen (ex-Ghost Brigade), with Janne Markus as the sole remaining original member, The Man-Eating Tree released their fourth studio album, "Night Verses," in April 2025 via Noble Demon Records.
