The nest becomes too small: "I want no more to do with Salzburg. I hate the archbishop to distraction ", Wolfgang Amadé Mozart wrote on 9 May 1781 from Vienna to his father in Salzburg. Finally freed from the overwhelming feeling of the confinement of his position as a court musician in Salzburg, Mozart saw in Vienna a rosy future, not least in his marital status with Constanze Weber, rejected by the father. The last two Salzburg years of Mozart were musically exceedingly productive. Especially in orchestral music he used in a pleasurable stream of creativity, he had learned in the years before in Mannheim and Paris: many symphonies like those in B flat major KV319 point the way to the future and atmospheric serenades, such as the conclusion The Posthornserenade, which was created during the academic year of the university, shows that the Salzburg life must have had pleasant sides as well.
