Banana Trance

Dream Baby Dream's self-titled album on Hell Yeah back in summer yields its first set of remixes as Calm steps up with two new versions of 'Banana Trance.' Leya Touch & soFa elsewhere aka Dream Baby Dream dropped a wonderful blend of occult synths and treated vocals, dubbed-out rhythms, cold wave, cosmic disco, dub and trance with their brilliant LP. It works in many different settings and now gets some special remix treatment from Japanese downtempo don Calm, who is a core part of the Hell Yeah family. His expressive remix layers in some sleazy guitar riffs and more raw drums. The vocals are front and centre and soft acid lines are wired into the mix to make it more direct and dancey as psychedelic pads swirl all around. Then comes his dub which strips things back to big, cavernous drums, rippling cosmic synths and vamping chords that make for an epic trip. The original goa-filter madness of 'Banana Trance' is also included and is primed and ready to twist dance floors inside out and back to front.
