Abre Caminhos EP
Label boss Marco Gallerani unearthed Lyon based, Brazilian born Pedro Bertho during lockdown. Impressed by the young and talented artist's fresh perspective, he snapped him up for three tracks that bring a new and different kind of energy and elements of breaks, house, afro and baile funk that are all designed to make you dance in different and unexpected ways. Opener 'Abre Caminhos' has tropical sounding percussion and wild jungle noises, bird calls and crashing hits all making for a steamy and shapeshifting tune unlike any other. 'Racine' then masterfully layers up scuffed and shuffling kicks with off-grid percussive rolls and ethnic vocal chants. It's a tribal tune with a humid vibe and killer old school bassline. 'Sai Sacanagem' closes out with a darker, more textured bassline and electro feel that is finished with paranoid vocals and proto-house grooves. This is weird and wonderful music that fuses organic and synthetic sounds into brave new forms.
