LUMENO investigates the physical behavior of light through custom optical elements. Each work begins with a prism, designed and manufactured in collaboration with glass artisans, using traditional glassblowing techniques. These objects are engineered to refract and diffract light in controlled yet unpredictable ways, creating complex chromatic and geometric effects. Light functions as the primary medium — a dynamic brush shaping abstraction. The images are captured through a photographic lens, without digital fabrication of the core visuals. Post-production is limited to sequencing and ai assisted animation: still frames become seamless loops, assembled into generative compositions using the Infirama Player on Orbit. No offered LUMENO Infirama stream is alike and constitutes a unique piece of art. This approach contrasts computational simulation by grounding abstraction in material reality, translating the properties of glass and light into visual structures that exist between physics and perception.
Anka Poludov’s work merges experimental photography, glass art traditions, and contemporary moving-image practice. Her visual language is informed by the Czech avant-garde photographic tradition—known for its abstraction and material experimentation—and by the Czech art glass movement of the 1970s, which transformed glass into a medium for sculptural and conceptual art. She studied fine arts at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, where she developed a conceptual approach to painting, video art and photography, and later completed cinematic studies at the University of Southern California, expanding her practice into time-based narrative media. Poludov’s current projects, including the Lumeno series, continue this trajectory: investigating light as a tangible medium, merging handcrafted optical elements with advanced image sequencing to create infinite spectral loops.
